COLORADO NATIVE SAM JONES DECLARES FOR NFL DRAFT

Over the last decade, the state of Colorado has produced a large list of talented football players who have ended up all over the country. One of the standout players on this list is offensive guard Sam Jones of Arizona State. Jones went to ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado before continuing to play football at Arizona State University. In 2012 and 2013 Sam was named an All-Colorado offensive lineman, and was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school. The redshirt junior was plagued with injury his sophomore year but returned his junior year to become one of ASU’s standout players along with being named one of the team’s captains prior to the 2017 season. Jones finished as an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. On Thursday morning (1/4), Jones announced via Twitter, that he will be declaring for the 2018 NFL draft.

At 6 feet 5 inches weighing 290 pounds, Jones stacks up very well as far as size is concerned. Throughout his career at Arizona State, Jones showed that he has the speed and the strength to not only hold his own, but also make a great impact with several NFL teams. There is no doubt that many teams could use his size and talent…a specific team that comes to mind is our own Denver Broncos. As we saw this season, the Broncos need some critical offensive line help to be successful next year, and Jones just may be the guy to fit that role. Growing up in his hometown, I’ve been able to watch Sam play since he was in high school. He adapts very well to many different offenses, and easily could become a standout player within the next few years in the NFL.
Jones is a competitive offensive lineman, with great potential…and there is no doubt that he could fit into an NFL offensive line come next fall.
